The things that I enjoy most… are random creativity, yoga, learning new things, spending time with family & friends, travel, and giving back.
Hello I’m Chrissy,
I was born in Seoul, Korea adopted with my twin Nicky. We grew up in Australia from 6 months. I’ve been living for the most part in Sydney, Australia, having extended adventures living/working/studying in Bali Indonesia, Brighton UK, Vancouver Canada and the US in Austin, Texas, LA, California.
I’m a mum of 2, step mum of 2, an artist and a yogi with a background in fashion, I studied Fine arts a very long time ago majoring in sculpture. After Art school I ended up making shoes. I launched a couple of my own footwear brands. It taught me I that I love creating things but was not great at compromising my art…
These days I spend time with my family and friends, teach yoga, write/blog, make art from preloved/vintage fabrics, grow healing plants and volunteer as a Scout leader for my kids.
Slow Living
Between 2015 and 2020 we were living between Bali and Sydney. David (My wonderful partner) was busy building a start-up business in Indonesia. Ash was born in 2016 and Liv in 2017. We had an idyllic life in Bali with a nanny, a cleaner, regular yoga, beach clubs and soo much time… (I know!!!)
But on each return to Sydney, it felt like a deathroll from a moving car! Running a home with two kids under 2 yrs, step kids 6 and 9yrs and our part-time dog. I was so anxious I could not put together a to do list or even know where to begin…
It was during this time I discovered Slow Living on a podcast. It was a reminder to slow down and prioritise the important things. I wove a consistent practice into my daily life. I began to mindfully clean, meditated, did yoga, journaled, made art and spent time in nature… I was not expecting to thrive! I was more creative than I had ever been. I somehow had more time, was happier and had a regular art practice for the first time in my life!
How did The Way Of the Creative come about
It was during covid, I had started working at a school for kids with behavioural problems when I had a lightbulb moment… Through the school I was learning about the neuroscience of trauma. I had begun to do my own research, discovering the science behind what Slow Living had done for my creativity. I realised that my course aligned with the the Yogic System.
“The Way of the Creative” idea was born, a unique blend of ideas and teachings to live a more creative life.
A few years back the idea for a book began haunting me so I began to write.
“The Way of the Creative” the book is magical realism, inspired by yoga, it can be read for pure entertainment or to maybe find something deeper...
Yoga, Slow living and creating the life I always wanted…
Yoga has been one of the only constants in my life, I’ve been practicing for over 25 years. Having soo many AHA moments with amazing teachers I had gradually became more interested in the philosophy.
I choose to spend time on the things important to me. It’s taken a while but I feel like I’m living the life I chosen.
Yoga is an ancient system that can be traced back over 5000 years. I believe it works… I got my yoga teacher training, now I’m teaching yoga, and creating a dream I’ve had for soo many years…
Yoga means the union of ourselves with the universal creative force and it is a constant practice… And although it is also often a constant battle to find the balance it's something I would like to share with others.
And in hindsight creativity and yoga seems so obvious, but this was my journey…
Love Chrissy
